Vehicle purchase terms

Deposit & Bidding Terms

These terms explain the standard deposit, bidding, reservation and payment process for vehicles sourced through Buy Car in Cyprus. The vehicle-specific written quote, order or contract may add or replace a term where it says so clearly.

Last updated: 11 August 2026

A lost auction bid does not consume the deposit: it remains available for the next approved vehicle under the written terms. If the client cancels after confirming a bid, reservation or purchase, the initial deposit is non-refundable, subject always to mandatory law.

1. Scope and written confirmation

These standard terms apply to deposits for Japanese auction vehicles and Japan Stock / One Price Cars. Before money is committed to a specific vehicle, we confirm the relevant vehicle, amount and next step in writing. A vehicle-specific written quote, order or signed contract controls if it expressly differs from this page.

2. Initial deposit

  • The standard initial deposit is 10% of the applicable vehicle amount, with a minimum of €2,000, unless a different amount is confirmed in writing for that vehicle or transaction.
  • The deposit is credited toward the agreed purchase price when the vehicle is successfully bought or reserved.
  • Payment of a deposit does not by itself guarantee that a vehicle is available, suitable or won; those points require the applicable checks and confirmations.

3. Review before a bid or reservation

After the deposit and before proceeding, the vehicle may be reviewed using the available auction sheet, condition notes, photos, mileage, specification, import suitability and supplier information. We may recommend not bidding or reserving where the vehicle, data, timing or import position is unsuitable.

4. Bid or reservation authorisation

  • A bid or stock reservation is made only after the client confirms the vehicle and applicable limit, price or instruction through the agreed written channel.
  • Auction timing, supplier response and availability can change quickly. A request received too late may not be placed.
  • Once an auction bid has been placed or a supplier has accepted a reservation or purchase instruction, the client instruction is binding to the extent stated in the written documents and permitted by law.

5. If the auction bid does not win

If an agreed bid does not win, the deposit remains available for the next vehicle approved by the client under the written terms. It is not treated as a cancellation by the client. The deposit is carried forward rather than automatically refunded, unless the written agreement or mandatory law requires otherwise.

6. If the vehicle is won or reserved

When an auction vehicle is won or a stock vehicle is confirmed, the deposit is applied to the purchase. Unless the vehicle-specific written schedule says otherwise, the standard payment schedule is the initial 10% deposit, a further 50% within three working days after the auction win or purchase confirmation, and the remaining 40% no later than seven days before arrival at Larnaca port.

7. Client cancellation

If the client cancels or declines to proceed after confirming a bid, reservation or purchase, the initial deposit is non-refundable. Additional supplier, auction, transport, storage, banking, cancellation or other costs already committed may also be payable where stated in the vehicle-specific written terms and allowed by law. We confirm any such amount with supporting transaction information where applicable.

8. Price, payment and third-party data

  • Online prices and estimates must be confirmed for the vehicle before commitment. A written final EUR price and its stated inclusions control once confirmed.
  • Payments are subject to successful processing and anti-fraud checks. A refund that is legally or contractually due is returned through the appropriate payment method; provider processing times may apply.
  • Auction sheets, photos and supplier records are third-party source data. We review available information reasonably, but an undisclosed issue or source-data error may exist. Material information found before commitment is communicated through the purchase process.

9. Consumer rights and personalised procurement

Nothing in these terms removes a mandatory consumer right. When a client expressly authorises a time-sensitive auction bid, reservation, supplier purchase or immediate service performance, irreversible third-party commitments may begin. Any statutory withdrawal right and any applicable exception depend on the facts and law; the specific written confirmation records what the client requested and when performance began.

10. Governing law and questions

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus, subject to mandatory consumer protections. Ask for clarification before authorising a bid or reservation; after third-party commitment, cancellation may create real costs.
